Burlington, Canada, 2003. Overambitious teenage film buff Lawrence dreams of attending film school at New York University. To pay the hefty tuition fees, he finds a suitable job at the local video store Sequels. In his eagerness, he alienates the most important people in his life - his best friend Matt and his single mother Terri. At the same time, he develops a complicated friendship with his boss, Alana, who is a few years older than him. As graduation draws ever closer, a series of painful realizations forces Lawrence to consider the possibility that he is simply a pompous asshole. I LIKE MOVIES celebrated its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and completely convinced critics with a 100 fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
